As a non-contesting brass band, Cirencester Band regularly plays at bandstands, concerts, fetes, etc. both in Cirencester and in the surrounding towns and villages.

The Band gives it's 'Christmas Cracker' concert in Cirencester Parish Church each December, raising money for a different local charity each year. The Band also takes part in Cirencester Town Council's programme of Sunday afternoon concerts on the Bandstand in the Abbey Grounds.

The City of Bristol Band was formed in 1936 and was originally known as the Fishponds British Legion Band. Throughout the bands history they have performed at many venues across the width and breadth of the UK. One of their most successful periods was through the 1960's, when they performed at the Royal Albert Hall on three separate occasions, both in competitions and concert performance.

The band changed their name in the early 1970's when their success had created questions from its now wide spread audience of the whereabouts of 'Fishponds'. From this date forward the band has performed under the name of its city of origin - 'The City of Bristol Band'.

The City of Bristol Band is located in North Bristol and currently has over 30 members. The bands constitution provides a detailed account of its goals, however their overall objectives are: the performance of music for the pleasure of the members of the band and their audience, the improvement of musical standards by rehearsal, performance and competition and to promote the bands name and that of its sponsors through advertising, musical recordings, concerts and competition.

Over the past years the band have progressed and met all but a few of their constitutional aims. They have progressed through the grading sections within the British Brass Band Association and are currently in the 2nd section. The City of Bristol Brass Band and its Committee firmly believe that it has the determination and talent to succeed. With its Youth Band bringing on new talent, the band can see Brass Banding in Bristol lasting for some time yet.
