Contest Format
The Contest will be organised under the GBBA Contesting Rules and will
consist of two sections.
SECTION 1 Cash awards of £100 plus trophies
will be presented to the Highest placed band of each of the national
grades, with additional trophies for the Second and Third placed bands.
SECTION 2 Gold, Silver and Bronze awards will be presented.
Special award to the Most Entertaining Band
(i.e. Deportment, General Appearance, Presentation and Programme
Content).
Special Awards to the Best Soloist and the
Youngest Player.
Bands competing in each section will be
permitted to play a maximum of 30 Brass Instrumentalists and 3
Percussionists.
Open adjudication.
A split draw will be used for this event.
Each band will play a programme not to exceed
20 minutes playing time.
The programme is to include a solo item.
Borrowed Players
SECTION 1 - Bands will be allowed to borrow up to three players if
needed; Championship Section Bands from any section, First Section Bands
from First Section or below, Second Section Bands from Second Section or
below, Third Section Bands from Third Section or below, Fourth Section
Bands will be allowed to borrow from the Fourth or Third Sections if
needed.
SECTION 2 - Bands competing in Section 2
(Youth/Training/Un-registered Bands) will not use Registration Cards,
but will complete and return the Contest Registration Form supplied.
Percussion
The following large items will be provided, no substitutions will be
allowed with the exception that players may use their own side drum:
Four timpani
Concert Bass Drum and cradle
Marching Bass Drum
Tam-Tam
Vibraphone
Five piece Drum Kit with Cymbal
Any other instruments required will be the responsibility of the Band
concerned, as will ALL STICKS and beaters etc. Please indicate on
your entry form if you will require either Tubular Bells or Xylophone.

SECTION 1 £50 / £60 Non GBBA Bands
SECTION 2 £30
Closing date for entries 19th December 2008,
or sooner if the maximum number of bands permitted for the Contest is
received.
